Ancient Egyptian Reflection! :)

This video on top is about my imovie that I did with my partner Zarafsha and me and her did an imovie on this pharaoh called King Khufu the pharaoh that built the Great Pyramid of Giza. I am going to answer six questions about my imovie in my next six paragraphs:

1.Why do you think Ancient Egyptian Pharaoh's create monuments?
I think that they built monuments because they wanted to show their believes and culture and their history. Also to show how strong they were when they were building those monuments also how they ruled the country. I did a imovie on King Khufu and he was the person that built the pyramid, and there was a thing that he believed in which after life. After life means like people die and then they think that they will have another life in the future and another word for after life is maybe lasts forever.

2. What monuments in our society are similar? (be sure to provide explanations and graphics).
There are few monuments from where we live, similar to the monuments in Ancient Egypt. There in the Great Wall of China, Taj Mahal, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Great Pyramid of Giza and so on. As we know that Khufu built the Great Pyramid of Giza and he used big granite rocks to build them. Here are few images of the

3.How did the using google docs as the main portal for collaboration help you with this assignment?
Using google doc mainly helped on this assignment because we had lots of information on the list and since we partnered up it was easier because then there was for information from both of us, then if there was only one person then there will not be quit a lot if information on the list. It was easier also because if we had something in our mind that we had not added on the list yet then on we can just go and add it in the list because both of us have excess to the google docs.

4.What did you learn from this assignment?
In this assignment I learned more about King Khufu and at first I didn't even know who he was and after I learned about him and found out information about him I got to know more about him. I also learned a lot about the Great Pyramid of Giza that he built and how he built it. Partnership is also one thing that I have learned well not so much because I have worked with partners MANY times this is not my first time of course.

5. What was challenging?
I would say that in this assignment I only had on challenge which was finding information about him, also after we got the information it was kind of hard for us to find graphics for the information and that is all that was challenging for me for this assignment.

6. Which school wide learning results were evident in this assignment?
In my school there is six school wide learning results. The one that I would say that was most evident would probably be collaborate constructively because when we were working in partners we had our own jobs that we had to do so we did our own job and we actually got our work done fast. I think me and my partner did quit well on this assignment.

City Connection Reflection!!! :)

I call Pulau Penang as my home because that was were I was born. Well what I am talking about is that the presentation that we did in class. We have to do on a place were we call home so I did Pulau Penang because that was the place were I call home. We have to answer four questions and these are the questions: 1.What you believe you did well on the project?, 2. What you would improve for future presentations/projects?, 3. What did you learn from your preparation (for your presentation) in addition to the presentations of others? and 4. What is your analysis of your performance? I am going to answer all these questions in the next four paragraphs.

What you believe you did well on the project?

Well, I wouldn't say that I did that well but I would say that I did ok and not fantastic. I say that because I didn't really have much information and when I need the population of Penang I could only find the population of Malaysia (Pulau Penang is in Malaysia). That is as much as I can say for that question.

What you would improve for future presentations/projects?
I should add more information so that the audience would thing that it is somehow interesting. Also when I am presenting I should talk louder and I should not keep looking at my presentation and reading the words out of the presentation. Maybe I can write what I am going to say in a piece of paper so when I forget what I am going to say I can go and look back at the paper.

What did you learn from your preparation (for your presentation) in addition to the presentations of others?
From my presentation I would say that I learnt more about Penang and there were lots of facts in my presentation that I didn't really know about un til my grandfather explained to me all about it. From other peoples presentation I learnt more about their country or city were they call home and all those facts were pretty interesting as well. Some of their presentation were REALLY interesting.

What is your analysis of your performance?
I was not as loud but I was a bit loud and maybe in the future I could make my voice a bit more louder. I didn't really make much eye contact because I was keep reading out what it said on my presentation and so In the future I must also have more eye contact at the audience!

My New Year's Resolution!:D

       Happy New Year to EVERYONE that is reading this blog! I am going to share you my New Years Resolution for 2011! I have 2 New Year Resolution for 2011 1.To be nicer to my brother! and 2.Get better grades in class!(like maybe few A+'s or A's). Those are my 2 resolution's that I am going to be sharing with you, so I hope you enjoy them!

       Let's start of with No.1 being nice to my brother! "I ask the same question to myself as well why is being nice to my brother a New Year's resolution?" "Usually I am really mean to him and he is also mean to me, but I am way nicer then him most of the time." I am like his little maid and I am not his like his little sister. What I mean by little maid is that whatever he asks me to do I HAVE to do for him! For example: getting water, going to the 3rd floor and getting his ipod or his books and etc. So if this time he asks me to do something then I am going to say, "Izzath, you have legs don't you so can you just go and get it yourself since you HAVE legs". Also when he hits me then I want to hit him back but I just can't because hen he will hit 10 times harder then how I hit him! So this time when he hits me I am just going to try ignoring or I am going to say "Izzath, can you please stop! That was my first resolution.

       Last but not least my 2nd resolution which is to get better grades. I am not a really smart kid and it is not easy for me to get good grades because I am not a smart kid! So this year i am going to try studying my hardest so that I could get awesome grades and I will get at least a bit more smarter! Here are few of the subjects that I really don't get good grades: Science and especially Math and the other subjects I get ok grades. My goal is to get excellent grades on Math and Science, but even though I like those 2 subjects I still get bad grades!

       Those are my 2 New Year's Resolution but, my 1st New Year's Resolution can sometimes not actually work out because when my brother is being really mean to me then I can't be nicer to him I also have to treat him how he treats me, then it will not be fair to me! I hope my 2nd New Year's Resolution work's out! I hope you enjoyed reading my 2 New Year's Resolution, what is your New Year's Resolution for this Year?

Learning Profile-How do I learn Best?:)

In class, my class and I were shown what our profile was and surprisingly my profile letter was the letter "I". Well, actually I wasn't really that surprised when I got an "I" because it says I am "Limited Under Stress", and I guess sometimes I am.  I talk with my friends sometimes when the teacher is talking and I also like to move a lot, so I already knew I was gestalt. I am stronger in the right side of my brain because I love free-flow when I come into a classroom, and I don't like orderly things like bullet points on the board. Here are few things about myself:

I learn best when the teacher shows lots of examples on the board and draws examples. The reason why I learn better when my teacher draws examples on the board is because I understand it better when I see it, not hear the teacher just talking about it the whole time.

I have to fiddle with something when the teacher is talking.  I just find the need to move because I can't sit in the same place for a really long time because I might get really bored and feel tired.

The strategies that would help me in my learning is that I need to study for a test or a quiz about two to three times for me to get better grades. Also another strategy is that I also sometimes need help from the teacher but I always don't ask the teacher for some help because I understand the topic that we are learning about most of the time.

I would like my teacher to know this about me: when I sit at the back I can't really see the board, and I don't like sitting at the front.  So I'd like to sit in the middle.  Also I would like my teacher to know that I like to ask lots of questions when I don't understand something. That is probably it and I hope my teacher understands when I start asking them questions. :)

Hathcet By:Gary Paulsen, Collaborative Lit Circles! :)

What does the word Collaborative mean? To me Collaborative means working together and talking together about what you are going to do for the next Lit Circles which is about what we do. I am going to talk about how me and my partner worked Collaboratively as partners. It is about the book "Hathcet By: Gary Paulsen" I am going to answer these 3 questions which are: 1.The benefits of working with a classmate, 2.Challenges/ obstacles which you overcome (tried to overcome) and 3.New understandings that you gained about the novel. Those are all the questions that I will answer in the next 3 paragraphs and I will give some information.

For the 1st answer to the question, I think that collaborating with a partner when I am doing my lit circle is way better then working alone on your lit circle. I think that because when I work alone on it, its hard for me to think about 2 passages 2 questions especially but 2 connections and 2 vocabulary is easy for me. Now to the real point about the benefits, is that when I work with a partner what I predict is that I will get better grades because when I finish the part I have to do, then my partner comments on it then I edit it then it is better then maybe I can get better grades then the previous ones that I worked alone on.

Now the 2nd answer to the question, about my challenges and everything was that when it is my turn to say my talk about my lit circle then I get really scared because I don't think what I wrote about my lit circle was that good because I am not really good at thinking about 2 things at a time for my passage I have to find a certain page to write about I can't just pick a random page and write about it. Sometimes it is easy for me to think about 2 of the passages at the same time because I pick an easy page so it is easier for me to understand and I can do it a bit quicker.

Then my 3rd answer to the question, things that I understand about the novel is that how Brian made the fire and learned from the 2 dreams that he had about his father and his friend how they were trying to explain about the fire. He finally understand what his 2nd dream was about when he had the dream about his friend cooking something and he was trying to explain and he understand that Brian had to use his Hathcet to make the fire. I also learned how Brian survived after the plane crash that he had food to eat, water to drink and also fire that he treated like his friend. That is all I have learned so far.

I like reading this book Hathchet I think that it is really interesting and it is a great book but I think that there were repeating words, but after all I think it is a awesome book.:)

Literature Circle!!! :)

My groups discussion helped me understand the novel because if I did the discussion every time then I can think of more ideas the next time me and my group do the discussion. When we do the discussion we all have different things on our lit circle sheets that is on the computer and we have different passages, questions, connections and vocabulary. If we all wrote different things on our lit circle then it would be much interesting because if we all have the same thing written on our sheet then it would be boring. By reading my groups lit circle it is easier to understand then the person reading it to us.

The connection that I made during the discussion was when I heard this story form this man that there was a plane crash and also when I was on a plane the plane made a roring sound for like 10 seconds. When the other person was saying their connections I didn't really make connections with the other persons connections.

My prediction for the next few chapters would be that maybe Brian would crash into the forest into and it would be hard for him to look for food and water that is my prediction for the next few chapters.
